The number of leads coming through your online advertising are relevant for the growth of your business but ever wondered how much are you actually paying to acquire those leads? Google Looker Studio - Cost Per Lead Dashboard saves you the hassle of complex formula calculations for generating a cost per lead dollar value.

It will provide summarized data metrics e.g. impressions, clicks, number of leads, cost per lead etc., from your online ad campaigns, keywords being used to trigger the ads and the actual search terms used by the target audience to help you see the cost being paid to acquire leads.

The data can be filtered by date, which makes it convenient for you to see the metrics and cost per lead for a particular day or for a specific timeframe.

The dashboard also allows you to see data, from your Google Ads account, at campaign and ad group level, as well as the keywords and search terms being used for a particular ad group.

This page in the dashboard imports data from your Google Ads account (using the Google Ads data connector provided by Google Looker Studio), and displays various relevant metrics which are important in understanding the performance of your online ad campaigns.

You will be able to identify which ad campaign (display, search etc.) is working best for you, but most importantly, best in what terms i.e. cost, impressions, clicks or leads.

The cost per lead metric will help you drill down a futuristic strategy for your ad campaigns, given the data is supported by time-series e.g. the cost per lead for a specific month was higher than usual - you can work on the variables that might have affected your leads during that time period and then work out a plan to make improvements.

Search Ad Groups Page
This page in the dashboard also imports data from your Google Ads account but only from the Search Ad Campaigns. It displays the data metrics for

  • Keywords i.e. target terms specified in your search ad campaigns
  • Search terms i.e. actual search queries which people are entering in Google search - these search terms prompt your ads to show

This data will give you in-depth insights on what keywords should you be using for your search ad groups. By observing the time-series data, you can optimise your keywords list to get the most out of your search ads e.g. some keywords or search terms are trending during a particular time period or some search terms are costing higher than usual for a specific time frame etc. You can build a hypothesis for your ad groups using the data provided in the dashboard.
