It’s Important To Ensure your Listing Is Accurate

Ensure your business category, address, business hours and contact phone number are correct. This is an important factor which Google takes into account in their results ranking.

To Appear In Google Search & Map Results You Must Have A Google My Business Listing

Whenever someone searches for a business service that is local to them using keywords such as “near me” or “near location”, Google will show a highly visible map along with a list of three businesses.

This list is referred to as the Local Pack or sometimes people refer to it as the 3 Pack. There is also very convenient information for the searcher, such as a link to the website, directions to the location, business hours, phone number and even the star rating for each business. It is critical to ensure your listing is complete, accurate and optimised for best results.

Customers Can Leave A Review About Your Business

We can’t stress enough the importance of attaining quality reviews for your business. This can add huge credibility and trust to the perception of your business and it won’t cost you anything.

If your Google My Business listing is accurate, positive reviews can be a deciding factor in how Google ranks your business in search results so strive to get those reviews.

If you receive negative reviews we always suggest it’s a good idea to respond to these reviews in a calm manner. If details are not clear try and clarify these. Be open about mistakes you may have made. Offer solutions and try to resolve the situation.


High Quality Photos

It’s a good idea to add an exterior photo so people can recognise your business when they visit you.

You may also add additional photos if you wish. It’s important to consider the photos should be in either JPG or PNG format, of high quality and the correct size.

Insights | How customers find your listing

This section of Insights shows how many customers found you and how they found you. Click or tap the chart on the dashboard to see the percentage of all customers that found you via each of these methods:

>> Direct searches: A customer directly searched for your business name or address.
>> Discovery searches: A customer searched for a category, product, or service that you offer, and your listing appeared.
>> Branded searches: A customer searched for your brand or a brand related to your business. This category will only appear if your listing has appeared at least once for a branded search.
>> Total searches: The total number of direct, discovery, and branded searches.

Search queries show you the queries people used to find your business on local Search and Maps. These queries should help you create better posts with Google and even Ads to engage your customers.

This section of Insights shows you how many customers found you via Google Search or Google Maps. You’ll see the number of views your listing received through each of these services.

This section shows how customers behave after they found your listing on Google.

>> Visit your website: A customer views your website
>> Request directions: A customer requests directions to your business.
>> Call you: A customer calls your business.
>> Total actions: The total customer actions for website, directions and phone.


Posts allow you to connect with existing and potential customers through your Business Profile on Google Search and Maps through posts.

For example you may want to let people know about an upcoming event, a new product launch or a special offer. When customers have more access to your business information and updates, they can make better decisions as they browse.

Reviews on Google provide valuable information about your business to both you and your customers. Business reviews appear next to your listing in Maps and Search, and can help your business stand out on Google.
