H: Jeff, you want to talk about Google Analytics 4
J: Hi Heather, yes for most of your listeners, Analytics is probably not high on the list of online tools they use and unless you’re a wonk, you probably haven’t needed to care. The thing is though, Google has come out and said that in July 2023 – just over a year away, the current Google Universal Analytics is being switched off.
Now this matters for all companies advertising online. First and foremost, when they turn off the old Universal Analytics, all the data is gone – Google is warning, that you should set your GA4 up at least one year in advance to ensure you don’t lose data.
The second issue really comes down to the results you get from your ads. The modern ad platform uses Machine learning to identify your key customers, but you need to configure your Analytics to teach the ad platform who to target.
