Purpose Of This Lesson
The purpose of this lesson is to explain exactly what Facebook Business Manager is and why you should be using it if your business uses Facebook. You’ll learn about the benefits of Business Manager and some basic details about effectively managing your account.
What is Facebook Business Manager?
Facebook Business Manager is a free tool provided by Facebook to manage all of your Facebook marketing and advertising activities.
If your business uses Facebook, you should be using Facebook Manager because it’s an important tool that keeps your Facebook business assets central, organised and secure.
Small to large businesses use Business Manager to organize their business assets and information in one place. You can use Business Manager to control your Facebook assets and make sure the right people have the correct access.
You can use this free platform to run your ads, manage assets such as your Pages and ad accounts or add an agency or marketing partner to help manage your business.
What do you get with Business Manager?
Stay up to date with your business - When you sign into Business Manager, see alerts and insights about the pages and ad accounts that matter most to your business.
Add everything connected to your business – In Business Manager settings, add your pages, ad accounts and more. Then add people to the assets they need to work on.
Access audiences and more across your business – Gather your audiences, images and other items people in your business will use to build ads and page posts.
When you join Business Manager, coworkers can't view your personal Facebook profile unless you approve their friend requests. Coworkers can only see your name, work email address and the Pages and ad accounts you have access to.
Facebook Business Page
Your Facebook business Page is a free way to reach your audience on their computers and mobile devices.
We designed it for businesses, brands, celebrities, causes and organizations.
While Facebook profiles can be private, Pages are public. Google may index your Page, making it easier for people to find you.
Adding a Page to your Business Manager
When you add a Facebook Page to your Business Manager, you’re claiming ownership of the Page.
To add a Page, you must also have been an administrator on the Page for more than 7 days. If you are not an administrator on the Page, you will have to request access to the Page.
You must be an administrator in the Business Manager.
The Page you are trying to own can not be owned by another person or business. Each Page can only be viewed by one business.
If your Page is linked to an Instagram business account, you should also add your Instagram business account to your Business Manager.
Request Access to a Page in Business Manager
When you request access to a Page, you’re asking for permission to another person’s or business’s Page.
You aren’t taking ownership of the Page, but are requesting access to perform certain tasks on the Page such as view and comment.
You’ll be able to see this Page in your Business Manager, but it will show the person’s or business’s name as the owner.
Add People to Your Business Manager - Basic
When you add people to your business you can grant them permission to assets in your Business Manager.
Only administrators can add people to your Business Manager.
After you have entered the email address, select the role you would like to assign them. Choose either Employee access or Admin access. You can also select Show Advanced Options to choose Finance analyst or Finance editor.
Add People to Your Business Manager - Security
Don’t add people to your Business Manager if you don’t know them. Scammers may create fake accounts in an attempt to manipulate people and businesses. If you’re unsure if a request is authentic, contact the person in the real world to confirm they initiated the request and that you’re comfortable adding this person to your Business Manager.
Facebook will never ask for access to a Business Manager.
If a business that claims it’s Facebook asks you to add them to your Business Manager, it’s not a legitimate request. Facebook recommends you deny the request and report it.
Add Ad Accounts in Business Manager
In your Business Manager, you can add ad accounts that you own and get access to ad accounts that other people or businesses own.
In the Ad Accounts section of your Business Settings, you’ll see ad accounts that you own and ad accounts that you have access to that are owned by others.
If an ad account is owned by another person or business, below the ad account name, you’ll see the name of the person or business who owns the ad account. If you own the ad account, you won’t see additional information.
You can filter by Advertising for self, Advertising for partner, Owned by self, Owned by partner, Active, Disabled or Closed.
What are partners in Business Manager?
Partners are other businesses, such as agencies or clients, with whom you work. Add partners to your Business Manager so that you can share assets with each other. You can't give partners access as admins or employees. You can only share permissions to assets with your partners.
What is a Business Asset Group in Business Manager?
A business asset group is a group of assets within your Business Manager. Admins can create business asset groups and use them to organize assets and the teams working on them. Once you've created a business asset group, you can assign access to multiple people and grant them permissions to assets within the group.
Is there a range of options for targeting different Audience Types?
Yes. There are two general approaches you can take to creating a target audience, specific and broad. The approach you choose depends on what you're trying to accomplish and what resources you have available.
Specific Targeting involves a relatively strict set of parameters to work within while finding the best people to show your ad to.
When you engage in broadly targeting, you are mostly relying on the Facebook delivery system to find the best people to show your ad to.
Is it difficult to add my Instagram business account to my Business Manager?
To add an Instagram business account to your Business Manager, you must have the username and password for the account.
The Instagram business account you're trying to add can't be owned by another business. Instagram business accounts can only be claimed by one Business Manager.
Only administrators can add Instagram business accounts in the Business Manager.
If your Instagram business account is linked to a Facebook Page, you should add both your Facebook Page and Instagram business account to the same Business Manager.
